The Heathcote diggings were originally called the McIvor Diggings.
Most of the gold was in alluvial gravels close to the surface.

The video is from a very small area of the Heathcote diggings, it gives you some idea of the work involved in looking for  gold.

Most of the holes are just exploratory holes with the hope of bottoming out on colour, this was rarely the case.

There must have been some success because the puddler is close by.

It looks like a seam was chased in the video, (the trench).
